RHODES HOUSE, OXFORD

CLIENT: THE RHODES TRUST

LISTED GRADE II*

BFF worked with Rhodes House and a wider professional team to evaluate the options for the reconfiguration of their Grade II* Listed Oxford facility, designed by Sir Herbert Baker, the contemporary of and sometime collaborator with Lutyens.

In order to better serve the needs of the Rhodes Trust in the 21st Century, a proposal needed to be developed to unlock the potential of the site and the existing Arts & Crafts buildings.

BFF worked on site with a co-located professional team which included Planning Consultants to develop and test a feasibility study.

The scheme focused on developing Rhodes House’s conferencing business; creating a 300 seat convention hall in the basement (a former book repository) and adding a 45 key residential wing and an administration wing to the site.
