Stratford Picture House

Stratford Picture House

A new landmark development central to the urban regeneration strategy for Stratford East, providing within the context of a new public square and cultural quarter, a four-screen cinema with exhibition, café bar and restaurant facilities. The island site allocated to cinema represented an ideal opportunity to establish a new urban setting for both the cinemas and The Stratford East Theatre Royal.

The entrance to the new cinema is from the western end of the new square and a covered indent has been formed into the western edge of the building housing a restaurant terrace.  The four cinema auditoria are entered at first floor level, ensuring all cinemagoers experience the building as a whole.  The project was an FPDC National Winner for Leisure, and voted as one of the best 50 buildings of 2000 by The Independent.
